Kyokushin Karate for Men, Women and Children

Karate East Kent Students

Kyokushinkai karate is a relatively modern, strong style, with a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Kyokushin karate has grown in popularity since the 1960’s and there are now many karate organisations all over the world teaching the kyokushin style. Ideal for self- defence, it can improve self-discipline, co-ordination and confidence in adults and children alike. Adults may want to improve there fitness, health, flexibility and strength whilst learning an excellent form of self-defence. It is also fun and you will make new friends in the family atmosphere of our dojos.

At Karate East Kent we teach all aspects of Kyokushin Karate:- self defence and two fighting styles for sport and competitions, non-contact and Knock-down. We also teach the full syllabus of Strikes, kicks, blocks and Kata (detailed patterns of movement) so that students can earn the right to wear the different coloured belts.

Getting started is easy

Please contact us for full details and to let us know you are coming. If you are a child you must bring an adult with you. Parents are always welcome to stay and watch their children. Wear loose fitting clothing, jogging bottoms and a T shirt or sweat shirt are ideal. Don’t worry about shoes, we do our karate bare foot.

Whether you are a child, teenager or an adult you will find our clubs friendly and you will receive a warm welcome.

Karate can help to get you fit, but it is also fun and you will learn some very useful self defence, come and give it a try.

About Us

Instructors at Thanet and Canterbury Karate Club

As well as regular classes we have Summer camp, beach training sessions and competitions you can take part in.

My name is Trevor Kingston. I am a 5th Dan black belt. I have been a member of International Karate Kyokushin for nineteen years.

My club “Karate East Kent” has training sessions in Ramsgate (Thanet), Sturry (Canterbury), Whitfield (Dover) and Lympne (Hythe) every week. I am lucky to have some very dedicated black belts that assist with the teaching, particularly in Thanet, as it is my oldest club.
